| 7/11/2008 | Crossroads Ballet Festival at UMKC Jul 11-12thProfessional dancers from across the country will join forces with Kansas City's nationally recognized talent for an evening of dazzling ballet in the Crossroads Ballet Festival. Audiences will savor ballet favorites from classics such as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Le Corsaire. Matthew Powell, award winning choreographer and artistic director of the Crossroads Ballet Festival will also premiere his newly choreographed work, The Red Shoes, which is based on the macabre fairy tale about a young woman forced to dance to her death by a pair of magical red shoes. The evening will culminate with the pas de deux from George Balanchine's masterpiece, Stars and Stripes. Tickets are on sale now. |
